Why I'm Running
Meet Tamika Mapp
I’m running because this district didn't just shape my career--it forged my character. My journey hasn't been a straight line. I was a teen mother who had to learn early on that survival requires a village. Navigating school, work, and parenting taught me that affordable housing and community support aren't just policy points---they are lifelines. As a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired 1199 union member, and your District Leader, I have spent my life defending the people and the principles that keep families whole. I wasn't raised in this district, but I was chosen by it. Through the years of organizing on these streets, I have seen the resilience of our neighbors and the gaps in our system. I love this community-not just words, but in action. I've been present when others were absent, and accountable when others were silent. I'm going to Albany to fight for our right to S.T.A.Y.- to protect our Seniors, transform our Tenant Rights, invest in our youth's Afterschool future, and say Yes to safe, drug-free streets. This is home, and I have the experience to fight for it. Join Me
